‘Thin Space’ Stones

An inspiring blogger I follow recently posted about a poignant, mystical presence of her deceased father as her children and friend beach-combed for agates. Wynne prefaces her post, “There is nothing scientifically provable in this story. But it’s still 100% true.” (https://wynneleon.com/?s=Agate+Magic)

I too have been blessed with such unscientific, magical ‘thin space’ moments . . . transient flashes when eternity invades time, and heaven unexpectedly touches earth. The past week held one of those precious ‘thin space’ moments, somewhat delayed …

Just before leaving the Last Frontier last month, my wife, son and I visited friends who live on my favorite mountain’s doorstep … Denali National Park. Wandering the shores of a pristine lake with my son, a small piece of brown and black flecked white quartz caught my eye. I picked it and stuffed it in my pocket … a habit I’ve nourished since childhood which occasionally aggravates my wife when rocks ‘supernaturally’ appear while laundering my jeans 😊

Saturday was one of those 3 outta’ 10 days life employs to temper my fleeting patience 😊 A large fallen tree and leaves piling up on the roof required removing, and a burnt-out light fixture challenged my limited electrical expertise. Finally completing the first two physical tasks, I entertained a brief pity-party break before intellectually tackling the burnt-out light fixture on my To-Do list.

Sitting down on a tree stump I felt something in my pocket … Yep! … the small piece of Denali quartz I had pocketed a month ago. In my personal hygiene defense, this was only the second time I had worn these jeans since leaving Alaska 😊

Tumbling the quartz stone around in my hands a ‘thin space’ moment suddenly descended seeing something never noticed before. There … inscribed in the quartz … was my Savior’s ‘signature’.

Sensing His gentle embrace my little pity-party instantly vanished assured that, whatever challenges my days may hold, I’m forever undeservedly blessed and unequivocally loved by Him.

“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress and deliverer; my God, my strength, in Whom I will trust”

Psalms 18:2

Keep Looking Up ^ . . . His Best is Yet to Come!

  1. Oh my goodness — I felt this one through and through. The timing just makes it perfect, doesn’t it? I love how open you are to thin space moments, Fred!

And thank you for the shout out! Our Father knows when we need a bump and we’re so lucky when we receive the message!

    Beautiful, my friend!
