Uncertainty Therapy

The Last Frontier summer is rapidly fading into fall, and this aging ragamuffin’s fall season of life has already experienced winter’s first snows.

Uncertainty is a certainty of life. Lately, life’s uncertainties have been edging into my ponderings. A comforting quote I recently heard helps mitigate the ‘worry’ of uncertainty …

Write your plans in pencil and hand God the eraser

Professor Dr. David Ley

… but … at times I still wrestle with handing God the eraser and reaching for a pen 😊

Soooooo …….. yesterday I headed off into Greatland’s vast wilderness for a needed cathartic, healing therapy session with my Abba.

My therapy session began on the banks of the Matanuska River. Gazing across at Chugach Range snowcapped mountain cathedrals.  The glacial swollen, rushing waters brought a familiar calming Psalm to mind,

Be still and know that I am God

Psalm 46:10

… and I did

Renewed and energized, I handed the eraser back to my Divine Therapist and focused my wilderness wandering upward.

Reaching a favorite overlook … yet another of my Therapist’s spectacular ‘offices’ … my therapy session resumed.

Gazing across the expanse of the Matanuska River Valley where began my therapy session, I stood amused and captivated. Ravens, delighting like children, soared and cartwheeled on strong updrafts … and the breezes whispered a soul reassuring, ‘uncertainty’ restricting Scripture passage,

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storehouse or barn, and yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than the birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”

Luke 12:24

Therapy session concluded, I headed back down to the basin of ‘uncertainty’ … now … “Where did I put that pencil?” 😊
