As a child each summer was spent with my mother, siblings and grandparents at their cabin in Promised Land, PA . . . and indeed it was . . . my childhood sanctuary. From sunup to sundown I delighted roaming its forests and streams . . . and a virtual little John Muir was born 😊
Eight decades hence my mother has joined my grandparents in their eternal Promised Land sanctuary, along with one of my beloved brothers. All my other younger siblings have been busily raising families and are enjoying their grandchildren in Urbania.
Ten years ago the Lord led my wife and I to this Great Smoky Mountain home tucked away up on a mountain – down in a ‘holler’ – over a ‘crick’ . . . a new Promised Land . . . we named it Sanctuary.

Once again I’ve been blessed to be able to roam Creation’s forests and streams, this time right outside my door! . . . God is good, and little John Muir is a happy camper 😊
“Life can only be understood backwards, but must be lived forwards.”
Soren Kierkegaard
Now, at our ‘advanced state of maturity’, Lord willing, the time has come for us to leave our Sanctuary we’ve so delighted in, and return to the Last Frontier to await His call to our eternal Promised Land . . . a forever Sanctuary.
One of Sanctuary’s highlights we’ll miss is its neighbors . . . the feral ones 😊 Here’s a couple vid clips of our 24/7/365 security team. Bubba has the day shift . . .
Wiley clocks in for the evening watch . . .
“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty heaven!”
Psalms 150:1
May you be blessed and find rest in your special sanctuary.
