Final Greatland Wander

Looks like we’llย be on a jet headed south for the winter next week. Rather than spend the day going through another box of Kleenex today, I hiked up Castle Mountain to dry my tears ๐Ÿ˜Š. I built a rock cairn on top with a Good Book pocket edition for other solitude seekers.

Hereโ€™s a few pics snapped along the trail, and one of my foraging feral friends who showed up to bid me adieu. Like Arnold, I assured him, โ€œIโ€™ll be back!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜Š

Contemplating Life

This Great Smoky Mountains ephemeral, after-the-storm panorama marked the close of another day. The scene evoked a juxtaposed, sobering/joyful contemplation of life’s unknown brevity, and breathtaking beauty. As dusk fell, the confident wisdom of a beloved preacher comforted my thoughts:

โ€œWhat is your life? You are but a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.โ€

James 4:14

โ€œThis is the day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.โ€

Psalm 118:24

โ€œIโ€™ve read the last chapter of Revelation, and we win .โ€
