Snow-Ma-Geddon

He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.

Psalm 147:16

This weekend’s winter snowstorm with single digit temperatures was a local meteorological anomaly. While the Smoky Mountains higher peaks above 5,000 ft average 70” of snow each winter, Knoxville, TN at 900 ft. 30 miles east of us averages 4”-8” each year. Here in the foothills at 1,500 ft we average around 8”-10” of snowfall. Sadly, many folks lost power, and some are still waiting for it to restored. Gratefully we have a whole home generator that spares us power outages.

Perhaps it’s attributable to calling the Last Frontier home for nearly 3 decades, part of which was above the Arctic Circle, but I truly enjoy winter! Cold is invigorating . . . other than coating highways, ice is nice . . . and pristine snow silently blanketing the landscape calms my soul. Consequently, when I looked out the bedroom window this morning and saw what Mother Nature had left me I was a Happy Camper! 😊

Up here on the mountain the winding, 30-degree incline of our 1/10-mile driveway  leading to our digs down in the ‘holler’ over the ‘crick’ would make an ideal beginner/intermediate ski slope. However, Ellen and Lindsay Vaughn don’t share the same alpine skiing passion, and unfortunately my skis are back in Alaska Consequently, I spent the afternoon clearing fluffy white stuff off my fantasy slope. Three hours later I became aware that, although the temperature climbed to a balmy 18, I wasn’t anymore . . . skiing definitely beats shoveling!😊 Here’s a few pics of the winter wonderland that was mine to enjoy today . . . I M Blessed … May U B 2!

Keep Looking Up ^ . . . His Best is Yet to Come!
