2025’s ‘Goods’ and ‘Gooders’

2025 wasn’t a particularly good year for my spouse. Ellie broke both of her arms requiring taking up residence in hospital and rehab facilities for 2 of 2005’s 12 months, and had a pacemaker installed on my birthday … so what’s the ‘Good’ news ??? . . .

  • She broke her arms 5 months apart allowing her to still marginally function as ‘Leftie’, and then ‘Rightie’, improving her ambidexterity talents.
  • During the visit to the hospital for her second broken arm her heart stopped, necessitating emergency surgery to implant a pacemaker to keep her ticking .

So what’s the ‘Gooder’ news😊??? . . .

  • She’s still here!!! Were it not for her ‘coincidently’ breaking an arm the second time, this ole ragamuffin husband would now be wrapping up her funeral proceedings.
  • Although unskilled and unlicensed, Fred-D-Care provides me a fulfilling new side-career and is significantly less expensive.

One thing of Ellie’’s 2005’s medical maladies stood out . . . the incalculable value of something we’re all equally rich in . . .  the 24 hours we’re given each day. Nowhere was this more evident than during those times with my wife each day while she recuperated.

In our rapidly accelerating high-tech/AI society texting is preferred to talking; face-time frequently favored over face-to-face communication; and light-speed Artificial Intelligence is employed in lieu of thought-speed Authentic Intelligence (my limited neurons are severely taxed). Ellen’s thoughtful ‘Get Well’ cards were appreciated; caring phone calls were precious; and personal visits were priceless!!!

Somewhere in the ‘Good’ of utilizing technology’s impersonal myriads of time saving venues and platforms we’ve sacrificed the ‘Gooder’ of personal relationship, and are sadly losing each other.  I’m somewhat guilty as charged as this short discourse testifies.

Undeniably, unless you’re residing in some isolated society tucked away in the Amazon jungle or other utterly remote location, functioning in today’s world requires cyber-communication. The dilemma lies in balancing our time between cyber-technology’s time saving ‘Good’, and relationship’s personal ‘Gooder’. Our Divinely inspired one-of-a-kind individuality demands this balance be as equally unique to keep reasonable pace with high-tech/AI technology.

My hope for each of you in 2026 is to discover your balance in ways that will build and create personal relationships which no temporary impersonal technology can ever replace, while remaining cyber-smart operational . . . and . . . that all your 2026 ‘Goods’ will ultimately become ‘Gooders’ 😊

Two are better than one,

Because they have a good reward for their labor.:

If either of them falls down,

One can help the other up.

But pity anyone who falls

And has no one to help them up.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

HAPPY 2026!

Keep Looking Up ^ . . . His Best is Yet to Come!
