Hiking through Wonder

John Muir once wrote a caveat regarding visiting Alaska, which I’ve succumbed to,

You should never go to Alaska as a young man because you’ll never be satisfied with any other place as long as you live.

You’ve been duly warned 😊

Yesterday Grant and I hiked up into Hatcher Pass, one of my thousand favorite places in the Last Frontier😊.  A minuscule dot silently gazing over this vast wilderness, my soul echoed another John Muir quote,

It seems as if surely we must at length reach the very paradise of the poets, the abode of the blessed.

Sharing this adventure with my son was a blessing to this ole ragamuffin. In Grant I glimpsed the reflection of my own soul’s passion to explore the wonders of Creation’s majesty . . . a special reassuring gift from my heavenly Father.

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring are a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.” – Psalm 127:3

I M Blessed . . . May U B 2

  3. Ditto C. A. Ellen and my Smoky Mt. digs are in Walland, TN 30 miles SE of Knoxville. We’d love to meet up and share some Last Frontier tales. Ellen’s wasn’t able to make the trip north this year and granted me a short ‘Alaska Fix’ for our 13th Anniversary 😊. I return to my bride next week, still hoping Lord willing, we’ll be able to move back here to turn the final pages in our life journals before heading Home 🪽

  11. John Muir spoke truly! I lived in North Kenai for a year between my junior and senior year of college… and it will ever be my home although I’ve never been able to get back there. Anita and I are looking at maybe in 2027.😥☺️
