Watching the horrendous scenes of the incomprehensible tragic devastation and loss of lives in the recent Texas floods, especially those so young, truly breaks my heart, reminding me how so undeservedly blessed I am! . . . by His Grace alone I’ve been spared the unimaginable grief of losing a child.
The enemy delights using such tragedies to cause some to abandon their faith. My faith knows, in His inexplicable sovereignty, the “WHY?” of this horrific disaster will remain unanswered until Heaven, but it still haunting whispers in my mind.
Ernest Hemingway was once asked to write a story in just 6 words. He wrote:
“For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn”.
Hiking through the Smokies a few years ago, I wandered through an old graveyard behind a small century old church, and Hemingway’s hauntingly untold story flashed to mind.
Standing before a nameless infant’s tombstone, the “WHY?” of this nameless infant’s fate begged an answer only trust in God’s incomprehensible dominion can leave unanswered until Glory. I envisioned the parents’ tears, mingling with mine, falling on this nameless infant’s tombstone . . . heart-wrenching tears shed over a priceless life just barely begun . . . “WHY?” . . . it silently spoke of the uncertain brevity of life that only faith in the certainty of God’s unfathomable love can calm, but never totally blot from this life’s memory.
I can only trust in my oft fragile faith’s declaration that someday I will see and share eternity with this nameless infant, who now has a forever name where –
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” – Proverbs 21:4
Then the Spirit nurtures my faith’s assurance knowing my Abba Father knows and has experienced the depths of grief’s sorrow beyond all human understanding . . . He sent His only Son to die on a cross for you and me! . . .
PTL !

Please continue to pray with me for His comfort for those parents who will never again hug their child, and all those whose friends and relatives perished in the raging waters, and that they will hold onto their faith, believing as they grieve that someday …
His Best is Yet to Come!
