Extraterrestrials

Sir Arthur Charles Clarke (1917 – 2008) was a science fiction writer, inventor, explorer, and screenplay co-writer for the film 2001: A Space Odyssey once said, “Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe, or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.”

A recent poll showed 56.9% Americans believe in aliens, and a survey of over 1,000 scientists found 86.6% believe basic extraterrestrial life likely exists . . . Do I? . . . hang on for just a bit 😊

Scientists are searching for alien life in bodies within our solar system that have liquid water and in exoplanets, planets outside our solar system with a Goldilocks zone where temperatures would allow life sustaining H2O.

It’s thought that some 300 million Goldilocks zone exoplanets planets may exist among our Milky Way galaxy’s estimated 100 thousand million stars. BTW . . . there are millions of millions of other galaxies in the universe . . . feeling a tad small? 😊

Beginning in 1992 scientists began listening for alien signals with special radio receivers . . . none have been detected tuning in yet. The fact remains, no extraterrestrial life has yet been discovered. Perhaps the reason is stated in another quote of Sir Arthur C. Clarke,

“I’m sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It’s just been too intelligent to come here.” 😊

Remember Stephen Spielberg’s 1982 blockbuster movie, E.T. – The Extraterrestrial ?It’s one of my favorites . . . a troubled child helps a friendly alien escape from Earth and return to his home planet. How could anyone not love such a sociable, bald, wrinkled, bug-eyed, lost alien?

Then today the unexpected happened . . . I ‘actually’ encountered an alien! Despite my shocking fear, I somehow managed to snap this pic before it suddenly disappeared . . .

Soooooooo . . . back to my earlier unanswered question . . . Do I believe in extraterrestrials? Considering one of my favorite movies is about an extraterrestrial, and now having ‘actually’ seen one in my backyard . . . why wouldn’t I?

Sorry ET fans. I respect your alien life claims, but until someone can verify extraterrestrials exist in the perennial best seller authored by the omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient Creator of the universe . . . and every planet, star, galaxy, life form and atom in it . . . I’ll remain an E.T. skeptic, enjoying its entertaining enigmatic stories and ‘actual’ sightings 😊

Through Him all things were made;

without Him nothing was made that has been made.”

1 John:3

It’s been said, “A half truth is a whole lie.” The same credo applies to pictures. Here’s a whole picture of my backyard alien 😊

Smile, and Keep Looking Up ^ . . . not for extraterrestrials . . .but for Him whose Best is Yet to Come!

  2. If there is life outside our planet Hazel, I believe they are peaceful since, with the superior intelligence they would possess to master interstellar travel, they would certainly have the ability to annihilate us if they wanted 😊

    Be blessed Hazel, and . . .

  3. I, indeed, smile. This is an interesting dragonfly, Fred. I think there’s also life outside our planet. We have so many possibilities. I enjoyed this writing.

  4. Who said aliens have to be human sized or not winged insectoids?😉Maybe he disappeared because he was afraid you were about to use a ray-gun on him… or her!? Watch your back, my friend. They may be recording your hostile actions!😄
