Peace on High

‘Invigorating’, below freezing wake-up temps have dramatically increased our wood stove’s log appetite; added windshield ice scraping to the car’s start-up routine; and nixed shorts and T-shirts as hiking attire . . . welcome to the Last Frontier 😊

From my admittedly, rural biased perspective, Anchorage, like all urban areas, is peacefully appealing . . . from a distance 😊

South Anchorage’s Glen Alps is known for its sweeping Cook Inlet vistas and luxurious mountainside homes, portraying a direct relationship between altitude and affluence. Glen Alps is also known for its gusty winds. High above the community, on O’Malley Mountain, the tattered summit flag testifies to its windy reputation.

Today, no shorts or T-shirts; blustery wind in our faces; drenched in bright sunshine; Grant and I silently gazed out over Anchorage far below, and . . . for a fleeting moment . . . wealthy beyond measure . . . the wind whispered a world at peace. May it be so. I M Blessed . . . May U B 2

Do not be anxious for anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

  1. Leaves or no leaves; 70 above or 50 below; sunshine or snow, we see our neighbor’s year round Nancy, but they’re all are feral and camp out 😄

  2. What beautiful, awe-inspiring vistas you enjoy, Fred! Right now I’m sitting on our deck. Temps are in the upper 70s; some wispy clouds slowly glide across the sky. A little strip of woods nearly surround our house, hiding from view the houses behind us on the next block. But the dusting of leaves on the deck portend what’s soon to come and we’ll see our neighbors once more!
