It has been two weeks since touching back down in the Greatland. Getting our home’s water running; the car’s brakes repaired; e-mail, phone and internet re-connected; and reclaiming the lawn and flower beds from the wilderness were just some of the tasks that made things ‘challenging’ 😊. However, jet-lag recovery proved especially ‘interesting’ this time around . . .
It was a kinda’ strange noticing there weren’t any cars in the church parking lots on the way into Palmer from Chickaloon the first Sunday morning. Since it has been a while since we were last here, I chalked it up to a change in service times. We pulled into McDonald’s for our customary 5* unhealthy, high-calorie, pre-church yummy breakfast – two senior coffees to satisfy our caffeine fix, and a couple of sausage-egg McMuffins to munch down. Breakfast done, we headed back out the door to church.
Arriving at our church we were both dumbfounded . . . the parking lot was completely empty! My first fleeting thought was that the Rapture had come and I was just a few more sausage-egg McMuffins away from the Apocalypse!
My dumbfoundedness quickly dissipated when I checked the time on my Fitbit and thankfully realized, yet again, I was just dumb . . . it was Monday, not Sunday! . . . Whew! In the hectic scurry of getting everything up and running we had both somehow lost track of time . . . a whole day’s worth! 😊
We did make it to church on time this past Sunday to a parking lot full of cars and a church packed with friendly folks worshiping our Abba together. BTW, in case you may be wondering if I’m finally ‘back-on-track’, I’ve attached a pic to verify it, although many contend that will never happen 😊
