Memorial Day

All gave some, some gave all

This Memorial Day we honor those who “gave all”.  Their ultimate sacrifice has provided freedom for all Americans. This “gave some” man is forever especially indebted and grateful for those “gave all” individuals no longer with us.

Some six decades ago 23 young Marines stood proudly at attention at Jacksonville Naval Air Station helicopter avionics school. It was graduation day. They awaited receiving their diplomas, nervously anxious to learn where they would serve their next duty assignment.

Twenty-one billets were for Vietnam. Two were for state-side duty assignments. Why I received one of the two state-side billets can only be attributed to God’s providence.

Thank you for serving.” When recognized as a veteran, those who stood with me on that graduation day flash to mind . . . some were tragically destined to become gave all” heroes . . . heroes who never returned from war to enjoy America’s precious freedom they fought and sacrificed their lives for. There, but for the grace of God went I.

My prayer this Memorial Day is for all America’s “gave all” heroes, including those who stood beside me in the warm Florida sunshine some 60 years ago. May they have come to know the One who once “gave His all for all”, and today are enjoying eternal freedom with Him above.

Thank you my “gave all” heroes.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
