The Quiet Bench

Ever been so busy you skipped a meal?  Way back in career mode times, I often did. Retirement eliminated that. Now when I skip a meal it’s because I forgot 😊

Mark 6:31 tells of a time when Jesus’ disciples were so busy with the crowds they didn’t have time to eat, and Jesus told them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

No matter what situation or stage of life one may be in, time away from the routine to a ‘quiet place’ decompresses and recharges to keep-on-keeping on.

In Alaska my special quiet place is halfway up Castle Mountain overlooking the Matanuska River valley and magnificent Chugach Range snowcaps.

Here in the Smokies my special ‘quiet place’ lies just outside our bedroom window on my ‘Quite Bench’. It’s where my soul’s wordless prayers are whispered as I “Be still and know that I am God ”, and I’m renewed.

May you find time away with Him today in your special ‘quiet place’ .

Keep Looking Up^ . . . His Best is Yet to Come!

  1. Love your description of both of your quiet places, Fred. Yes, places to be still – to rest, decompress, and reconnect. Beautiful!

  2. We all need quiet place. The bench looks great. I discussed this with my wife just yesterday morning. I want some shelter on our back deck . A trysting place no matter the weather.
