Yesterday we took a short road trip across the border to Fontana, NC. There, tucked away in scenic Appalachians is Fontana Dam.

It’s one of over 30 dams in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s vast hydroelectric system spanning the watersheds of 7 states. Fontana Dam played a crucial role in America’s WWII victory.

Our 46-mile door-to-dam route took us over the Tail of the Dragon, a renown destination for countless motorcycle and sports car fans. This 11-mile serpentine stretch with 318 curves through the mountains is an exciting, thrill-a-turn ride.

Unfortunately, Formula One drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez had first divs on Red Bull’s RB16B Turbocharged Honda.

Consequently, driving our Honda CRV greatly limited my receiving a full dose of adrenaline☹️. Conversely, my spouse tensely reclined in her seat with eyes shut, sadly missed out on the ride’s enjoyment😊. Here she relaxed once again after our arrival at Fontana Lake with her ole wan-a-bee Formula One driver.
