Moving is such fun! 😊
Earlier this year, with a combined age of 152, Ellen and I sensed the Lord nudging us to move on to a final ‘nesting grounds’. Consequently, for the past several months we’ve been road-tripping north to several states searching for that unknown to us destination. To add to our latest adventure’s ‘excitement’, yesterday we placed our home here up on the mountain – down in the ‘holler’ – over the ‘crick’ for sale. The formula two unknowns is . . .
Unknown Destination + Unknown Sale = Anxious Uncertainty . . . (some call it stress 😊)
Albert Einstein once said, “Coincidence is God remaining anonymous.” . . . and that’s where our, and the prayers of many of you for His direction, began to be ‘coincidentally’ fulfilled.
Our basic four desired ‘final nesting ground’ specs were as follows (guess which two are Ellen’s 😊):
- Less than an hour from a hospital and other ‘urban amenities’ (shopping, services, entertainment, internet, etc.)
- Paved road accessible without having to cross a trout stream (see Interstate Exits and Help Wanted blog post 😊)
- Rural mountain ambiance with at least an acre to roam around on
- No retirement neighborhoods for me to aggravate old duffers
After exploring several ‘promising’ properties we verified few real estate descriptions and pictures accurately depict the property featured in the listing 😊. Then, the promise of Ezra 8:23 came to fruition . .
“So we fasted and earnestly prayed that our God would take care of us, and He heard our prayer.” . . . and three ‘coincidences’ occurred:
- We ‘coincidentally’ met with a realtor who asked if she could pray with us about finding the right property.
- She ‘coincidentally’ located an estate sale featuring . . . A magnificent, owner/builder constructed home listed below market value Within a 1/2 hour from ‘urban amenities’, and even a regional airport! On a paved, but secluded road with several trout streams nearby Tucked away on 5 ½ mountaintop acres with awesome vistas of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains
Guess which two put a big grin on my mug? 😊
- Anxiously, we submitted an offer below the below market value listing price and, ‘coincidentally’, . . . IT WAS ACCEPTED!!! . . . Ellen’s so looking forward to packing 😊
Now we’re patiently anticipating one remaining ‘coincidence’ . . . a buyer for our home here up on the mountain – down in the ‘holler’ – over the ‘crick’. We treasure your prayers for it to happen soon. Thank you.
Here’s an eagle’s eye view of our new final ‘nesting grounds’ . . . you’re always welcome, but you’ll just have to visit to see and enjoy our new home for yourself 😊. . . our home is His home is your home.

We R Blessed . . . May U B 2
